    Southsea Portsmouth, Hampshire, United Kingdom

This group meets every Tuesday evening, from 19.00 – 21.00 fortnightly in Southsea, Portsmouth. We normally meet for 8 sessions and then pause for a few weeks before starting again. We only take new people at the beginning of an 8-week run so that everyone can deepen their practice as they get to know one another. We often meet earlier than 19.00 to share a tea, and sometimes stay after to eat a bowl of soup together. I invite you to pay attention to connections, conflicts and interactions in your day to day wonderings through life and to bring those struggles with you so you can work on them… Perhaps even make them an offering to our shared attempts to learn ….With practice and courage we can use this time together to bear witness to the burdensome privilege of being human and the intention to meet each other in our humanity. Please contact me to ask for details of where we meet and to book your place. There is often a waiting list for this group so let me know as soon as possible if you want to join. • Aching Heart Day 31st August 2018

    Clanfield Clanfield, United Kingdom

You are invited to join for an afternoon gathering of shared grief and shared praise. The Aching Heart is offered as a chance to come together, to bear witness to what is happening in our midst and to practice the skills of grief, praise and brokenheartedness. Our afternoon will be spent sharing and listening. We will speak both to the losses and sorrows that have visited our lives and this wonderful web of life upon which we all depend, as well as the incredible wonder and gift of being alive. We will gather just before 2 PM and share something to eat together after our circle is complete. "What does it take to stand quietly like somebody under a clear midnight sky, taking it all in? Things going well doesn’t seem to help with this. Good fortune isn’t pervasive on this matter and it rarely gives us pause. It’s when the news isn’t good news, that’s usually the time you find the limits of what you can bear to know." - Stephen Jenkinson Aching Heart Days were first offered by Harry Kloser-Pitcher in Vienna and our thanks goes to him for gifting the name and reminding us of the neediness […]

Join us to grapple with what it might mean to know grief as wisdom, as recognition, as bearing faithful witness to ‘what is’; Grief as a skill, joined at the hip with love and wholly mandated as part of an ennobling human endeavour…   Returnings is a time to be with others, for grief to be more than ‘just ‘mine’ and personal to ‘me’ – a time to be accompanied; to be part of creating a ‘non judgmental human basket in which to thrash around in’ with love, praise, gratitude and an indebtedness for being alive as cornerstones of our being together. What to expect We envisage sharing, walking, ceremony, ritual, storytelling, music, tears, laughter, and we will all be needed for fire and home tending together. The shared garnering, preparing and cooking together of the foods that will sustain us […]

  • The Work That Reconnects

    Southsea Portsmouth, Hampshire, United Kingdom

Are you sometimes overwhelmed by the unraveling of our world - the climate crisis, species extinction, violent conflict, increasing inequality? The Work That Reconnects is a way back to connection with ourselves and each other, and into meaningful action. This one day event will travel through the deep ecology methodology developed by eco-philosopher Joanna Macy. It will include perspective shifting exercises and nature connection practices to support us to explore how we feel about our planetary crisis and deepen our understanding about our connection to all life. Bearing witness to all this, we can find the courage and resilience to support ourselves and each other through these challenging times. And we can find meaningful and life serving ways to engage in the work that is needed. Workshops are offered in Gift, encouraging mutual support and connection through gratitude, which can be expressed in many ways, including 'paying it forward', practical help, or donation. Please register through this link to book your place. Priority will be given to people already involved in Portsmouth Extinction Rebellion.
